What is the Columba Center?
The Columba Center is a vision for deeply committed Christian life inspired by the example of the ancient Celtic Christians. Recently granted designation as a Center for Jubilee Ministry by the Jubilee Office of the National Church, the Columba Center was acknowledged for conducting the transformative ministries that reflect the Biblical theology of Jubilee.

What do you mean by "Celtic", and what do the Celtic Christians mean for us today?
The Celtic Christians flourished in present-day Ireland, Scotland, and northern Britain from the 4th through the 12th Centuries. They were known for a deep personal experience of Christ, hospitable communities of mixed states of life in which learning and the arts flourished, ministry which flowed from the gifts and talents of the members, and a passion for pilgrimage in distant lands as well in the paths of their own hearts. Their gift-centered, Christ-impassioned example of community, service to those in need, view of creation as blessed, willingness to converse with people of different cultures, and thirst for pilgrimage matches many of the deep hungers of contemporary people.

What does Columba Center do?
The Columba Center has conducted classes in Celtic Christian identity, the Anglican Rosary, and JRR Tolkien. Columba Center inspiration has deepened and expanded parish outreach programs to the poor and hungry, and inspired and sponsored Rahab's Sisters, a program of outreach to women in prostitution. A Way of Life based on Celtic principles has been adopted by several parish members, and one member is preparing herself for vows in a deepened form of the Way. A Peace and Justice community has been formed. Ties to the larger community and to other faith-communities have been created or strengthened. The Columba Center is helping shape the building plans of the parish.

How can I get involved?
Attend one of the monthly Columba Center gatherings. Consider adopting either privately or formally the "Way of Columba" as a form of committed Christian life. Join or support Brigid's Table Wednesday meal ministry or the other outreach ministries. Attend one of the other program offerings. Pray for the Center, and keep a brief time of prayer and recollection at Noon especially. Reflect on how Celtic Christian principles may deepen your own life of faith.
