Christian Formation Links
In our tradition, the process that leads up to baptism is called formation, and can take some time. We help those who want to explore their faith to learn more, and if they desire it, to prepare for baptism and life as a Christian.
Additionally, we believe that we never stop learning and never stop being able to explore what being a Christian means, so we offer on-going study opportunities, as well as seasonal classes and groups during the year.
Please contact us if you are interested in exploring your faith with us, entering the path to Baptism, re-entering the Church, or reaffirming your commitment, or even if you're just curious about what this is all about.
Formation, Prayer, Study, and Deepening:
Eastertide Thursdays, beginning April 19
"Celtic Light", a four-week series exploring a Celtic Christian-eye view of contemporary life--environment, prayer, community, and mission among them. Based on chapters from Celtic Christian Spirituality by Mary C Earle:

Meets Thursday evenings, April 19 for four weeks, 6:30 pm, culminating with a Celtic-designed Ascension Eucharist in co-operation with the Integrity chapter of Oregon. Taught by the Rev. Kurt Neilson+. Freewill offerings accepted for Columba Center ministries.
Many of us deepen our lives with a variety of individual practices, including daily prayer (using The Daily Office, Celtic Prayers From Iona, or other sources), Scripture study, contemplative prayer, and service to the poor and marginalized. We often gather together for special study groups during Lent, and at other times of the year. We offer Christian Formation classes to help those coming to or rejoining the Church to explore and learn in a small group setting.
A Rule of Life
All of us who have been baptised are called to live according to our Baptismal Covenant, and some of us have chosen to take on additional vows, as Companions and Culdees of St. Columba.
Academic Study
Each Sunday, Adult Forum meets from 9:00-9:40 AM in the parish hall. This is an informal gathering focusing usually on that Sunday's Gospel reading.
Each month, many of us have been gathering as well at homes and other off-site settings to discuss Christian praxis and questions--check the listing of events for each month's gathering.
For those seeking a more rigorous course of academic study and practical hands-on experience, as part of pursuing ordination, or simply wishing to carry out the Gospel in words and action, we are deeply involved with the Diocese of Oregon's Academy for Formation and Mission.
